Member of the Month:
Cathy Whiteside
I am proud to announce that Alpharetta’s first member of the month is Cathy Whiteside. Cathy frequents our 8:30 class and exemplifies hard work. She shows up every day ready no matter how difficult the WOD may be. Cathy has a wonderful personality which is infectious to everyone else in the room. I am very lucky to be able to coach her on a daily basis. Watching her overcome her fears and obstacles is so incredibly rewarding. Congratulations Cathy on being our Member of the month!

What got you into CrossFit?
The gym I was a member of for many years CLOSED, so I tried it on a Groupon . I was also looking to get fit after a running injury and had no idea what I was getting myself into!
What changes have you noticed since starting CrossFit?
I am much stronger and believe it or not, much more flexible. . Also , I am trying things in CrossFit that I NEVER would have tried before and I am actually able to do most of them.( with some help ) Even though I am not running as much as I did , I can still go out and run a 10K and not feel unprepared.
What do you enjoy most about CrossFit Alpharetta?
I really like the people… it is a very supportive, encouraging atmosphere and the new space is great The variety in the work outs is helpful , I do not get bored and can work hard but still have fun. I really look forward to working out now. The coaching is wonderful. We get so much helpful individual attention!
What do you find to be the biggest challenge with CrossFit?
Trying to eat healthy is the biggest challenge for me. Also, to push hard enough in work outs to improve without injuring the old body. One of these days I will Rx a work out.
What is your favorite movement and why?
That is a tough one, so many of the movements are new to me and still very difficult, if I have to say one, it is overhead squats! I find them to be almost impossible, but anything that hurts that much HAS to be beneficial.
Anything you would like to add/say?
Thank you Justin and April…. You do a great job for all of us. I am grateful for your support, guidance and encouragement! I really appreciate both of you. You make it fun to work out ,even though my mind is willing, sometimes my body just does not want to cooperate, you are ok with that and help me work through it Thank you very much for all you do.
Congratulations Cathy

Yay Cathy!!! Well done!
